Answer the following questions in no less than 300 words but no greater than 1000 words put together...
Character's background (their past and present): Obi-Wan was born on the planet Stewjon, and brought to the Jedi at an early age due to his strong connection with the force. He took quickly to the lessons of the order, advancing ahead of most of his peers. Despite his aptitude, it was some time before he was any master took him as a padawan. After proving his worth, he was apprenticed to Qui-Gon Jinn. Jinn was something of a maverick within the Jedi Order, but his compassion, wisdom, and belief in the living force would impact Obi-Wan greatly. Thanks to his master, Obi-Wan's brashness and arrogance were slowly replaced with wisdom, humility, and a broadened world-view.

Obi-Wan's apprenticeship was eventful to say the least. He temporarily left the Jedi Order during a mission to Melida/Daan, but was allowed to return when he realized his mistake. He fell in love with fellow padawan Siri Tachi, though they were dissuaded from pursuing their feelings. Obi-Wan's apprenticeship to Qui-Gon Jinn came to an abrupt end during a mission to Naboo, when Qui-Gon was slain by Darth Maul. Obi-Wan would avenge his master's death and become the first Jedi to defeat a Sith in over 1000 years. Heeding his master's dying wish, he took Anakin Skywalker on as an apprentice.

Anakin's brashness and lack of control worried Obi-Wan, but the two grew close as Obi-Wan tried his best to teach his new apprentice the ways of the Jedi over the next ten years. Obi-Wan and Anakin acted as bodyguards to Padme Amidala, and later Obi-Wan would investigate her attempted assassination alone. He discovered the Clone Army being made for the Republic on Kamino, as well as the Separatist droid army on Geonosis before being captured. He, Anakin and Padme narrowly avoided execution before being rescued by the other Jedi, signalling the start of the Clone Wars.

Obi-Wan took up the mantle of Jedi-General, and continued to train Anakin during the early stages of the war before Anakin was knighted and took on his own apprentice. Obi-Wan went on numerous missions, far too many to recount, but a notable one was his recent mission to Azure, in which he rekindled his feelings for Siri Tachi before her tragic death.

Character's personality: Obi-wan is an intelligent, level-headed, soft-spoken and thoughtful individual, with the preference of diplomacy over violence (though he will step into the fray without hesitation if he feels he must) that you might expect from a man called, 'The Negotiator.' "Deliberate" is a good word to describe him; Obi-Wan considers his actions and their ramifications carefully before choosing what seems to be the best option. This approach to life was carefully cultivated after a much more impulsive and emotional youth. As a result, he often serves as the voice of reason to his more brash counterparts, such as Siri, Ahsoka, and Anakin.

Despite his measured approach, he seems to have a knack for getting himself into dangerous situations. He's more or less resigned to it at this point, and his dry sense of humor tends to pop up even in the face of oncoming danger.

While Kenobi is usually a serious, well-spoken individual, he's also affable and compassionate. That compassion, paired with a strong sense of duty and responsibility, serve as the bedrock for his beliefs as a Jedi. He believes the weak should be protected, the law upheld, the peace kept, and so on. While his views are fairly orthodox, he doesn't follow anything blindly. If something smells off to him, he'll investigate.

His compassion and quickness to form emotional bonds does help keep him rooted as a Jedi, it has made his life difficult in the past. He has fallen in love more than once, and it nearly pulled him away from the Jedi Order. The recent death of his long-time friend and former love Siri Tachi had a profound effect on him. Acknowledging their feelings for each other before her passing allowed Obi-Wan to reach a new step in his personal growth; the ability to care with an open heart, but still let go and not be consumed with grief.

Character's skills/abilities/powers: As a member of the Jedi Order, Obi-Wan is force sensitive and is trained in using a variety of force powers (telekinesis, enhancing his natural abilities, Jedi mind trick, etc. The standard bag of tricks). While an accomplished diplomat, Kenobi is also trained in several forms of combat. He is widely considered to be one of the foremost swordsmen within the Jedi Order, noted particularly for his mastery of Soresu, a very defense focused form of lightsaber combat. While perhaps not on the same level, Obi-Wan is a proficient marksman and hand-to-hand combatant as well. These skills served him well in the Clone Wars, where he demonstrated considerable strategic ability. While it's unlikely to come up, he's a capable pilot as well and has a level of mechanical aptitude (though he's by no stretch a technical expert). He's had a rather storied career, and it's made him something of a renaissance man.

Any special equipment your character is bringing along? This includes weaponry, magic items, etc.: Aside from his robes, the only item of any real significance that he would be carrying is his lightsaber.

Are you bringing your character to [community profile] ten_fwd from another game? If you are, which game?: No.

If you answered yes above, briefly summarize how they were changed by and what challenges they faced in the climate of their previous game(s): N/A.

Why do you want to play this character in Ten Forward, and what do you plan to do with them? I've heard many good things about this game from the friends I have in it, and as many of them are bringing their Star Wars characters, I decided that I would as well. It'll be fun to see how the Star Wars cast as a whole reacts to the Star Trek universe, and how they adapt to fit into it.

I always imagined Obi-Wan would gel well with the Federation's mindset, and it will be interesting to see him in that setting, dealing with these new ideas and presenting his own in kind. Likewise, it'll be fun to see him act in his Jedi capacity, or at least attempt to without the authority or ease use of the Force at first. I can even see him offering whatever assistance he could to the crew as his abilities return, preferably as a diplomat. He could certainly act as an adviser to cast and crew as well.

Seeing a world without the force, or at least without access to it would also be a huge paradigm shift for Obi-Wan as well, considering how strongly tied it is to his ethos. I imagine it will shake him up somewhat, but he'll come to accept it and broaden his horizons of how life and the universe works. It'll be fun to tease out exactly what that journey entails.
